Clutter + Mess = Stress

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

A tidy wardrobe is a pleasure to deal with!

There are many people, men, women, and children, whose closet doors or drawers don't close! Well, let's address the issue in Three steps:

1) Prevention

STOP buying! If you are serious about reducing the stress in your life by finding what you have quickly, then you need to take these guides seriously:

Understand your relationship with clothes: Do you buy them because you NEED them or do you buy them because they are the latest trend?

Go Shopping when you NEED something because the one you have is too old and WILL be thrown out once you replace it!

Do target shopping! Don't walk around the shops oooh'ing and aaah'ing anything you see.... If you need a suit, go straight to the suit section of the shop! No diversion to the shoe department which "happens" to have a sale!

2) Intervention

Take EVERYTHING, and I mean everything out of your closet; put them on the bed & while you are at it, dust off the entire wardrobe and spray it with room freshener.

Then categorize your clothes by type: Suits, dresses, shirts, trousers, tops, etc.

Got through each type of clothes i.e. shirts. How many black tops do you really need?! Seriously? Surely not that many! Keep 2 of each colour/style, the rest goes!

If you don't fit into it now, it must go! If you lose/gain weight, you get a new one! No need to keep it in your closet till that happens!

3) Maintenance:

Go shopping when you NEED something. Shopping is NOT a hobby or pastime!

Have the "One in, One out " policy to avoid cramming stuff in the closet again! This way you will always have room

Aim for a capsule wardrobe. Buy items that you can mix and match. Not a skirt that only goes with one top and that's it!
